Pottery Care Instructions

Rachel Goodman Pottery is intended for making the everyday experience of home and kitchen a celebration. My products are meant to be used, held, enjoyed, and experienced on a daily basis. Here’s a quick guide to getting the most enjoyment out of your new everyday pottery.

Temperature Control

Each handmade piece is made with cone 6 stoneware. Only food-safe glazes are used, ensuring the safe consumption of hot and cold substances in my products. Avoid moving items between extreme hot or cold environments such as an oven or freezer, as this could cause thermal shock and result in fragility and cracking and/or breakage of the stoneware.

I don’t recommend using your handmade pottery in the microwave.

Cleaning

To retain the quality of your piece and ensure longevity, hand-washing is recommended. Please use a soft scrub brush and dish soap and avoid metal and/or abrasive sponges. However, the products are dishwasher safe but be aware that the dishwasher can dull the glaze finish over time, so it’s a good idea to hand wash occasionally to keep your pottery looking its best.

NOTE: If your pottery piece has white or antique gold luster detailing or is coated in a Mother of Pearl opulent finish like some holiday or special occasion mugs, vases, or planters, DO NOT put the piece in the microwave (can cause sparks) or in the dishwasher--hand wash the item ONLY.
